Welcome to The Oaks
Mission Statement
At the Oaks, we empower pupils by giving them the freedom to flourish and grow through personalised and inclusive learning journeys, so all can reach their full potential. Every opportunity is taken to promote confidence and emotional wellbeing to enable pupils to leave as successful and valued members of the wider community.
A very warm welcome
The staff and proprietors would like to join me in extending a warm welcome to you. Our website aims to give you a taster of the school, as well as providing up to date information for parents, pupils and the wider community.
The Oaks is a small independent school for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. We pride ourselves on creating a caring, supportive and nurturing environment where all pupils can thrive and have the freedom to flourish. We have a highly motivated, experienced and passionate staff team who help to create a school where the children come first.
Through our broad and rich curriculum, we aim to enable every child to love learning and develop excellent knowledge and skills, enriched by a secure sense of self-worth and deep moral purpose. We have an immersive, experiential and thematic curriculum with high ambitions for all individuals.
We believe it is our collective responsibility to enable and encourage every unique child to flourish academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually. We aim to nurture skills and talents to enable every individual to achieve, flourish and make a positive difference as active citizens in today’s modern, multi-cultural world.
Our curriculum encompasses both the full national curriculum as well as life and social skills, developing the children holistically and preparing them to be lifelong learners. We have a focus on independent personal development throughout our curriculum and extra-curricular activities including cultural capital trips.
We understand that the traditional approach to learning is not for everyone so we treat all of our pupils as individuals providing education unique to each learner. We have a therapeutic approach to all aspects of school life incorporating sensory diets and speech and language development throughout our continuous provision as well as targeted interventions.
Our SENDCo and staff team build strong family and multi-agency links to ensure all pupil’s needs and EHCP outcomes are met. As part of our provision we provide soft landings, emotional literacy support and Lego therapy to develop the pupil’s emotional resilience giving them the skills to overcome barriers to learning.
I hope you find the information on our website useful, and that it will help us to form the beginning of a successful partnership in your child’s education. We are extremely proud of our school and would be delighted to welcome you as part of our extended family.
